Meloni interviews bin Salman: "Immediate ceasefire in Gaza."

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a telephone conversation on Tuesday with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, HRH Mohamed bin Salman Al Saud. The conversation provided an opportunity to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza conflict as well as the main themes of bilateral cooperation. The announcement was made by Palazzo Chigi.
"With reference to the situation in Gaza, the two leaders," a statement reads, "expressed concern over the most recent Israeli decisions, which appear to be leading to further military escalation. They emphasized the need to reach, without further delay, a cessation of hostilities to put an end to the dramatic humanitarian situation in the Strip and begin the reconstruction of Gaza, where, the Prime Minister emphasized, the role of the Arab nations remains fundamental. Agreeing that only a political process toward a two-state solution can lead to a just and long-term peace, President Meloni emphasized, as she did yesterday to President Abbas, the need for Hamas to immediately and unconditionally release the hostages and accept that it cannot play a role in the future of the Strip. Finally, the telephone conversation provided an opportunity to reaffirm the shared desire to deepen bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, starting with the full implementation of the strategic partnership between Rome and Riyadh launched during the Prime Minister's visit to Al-Ula last January."
